More Pascha Videos to Boost SEO
Now that things are starting to clear up (and now that I'm also procrastinating from freelance work), here are some more videos of Mom's cat....enjoy!

As Things Are Calming Down.....
Hard to believe it's been two months since I moved into Mom's apartment.
Things have been...well, needlessly complicated. Have some freelance work, but always looking for me. (And one particular assignment is... when they dump a series of revisions at 5:00 pm on a Friday - on top of a huge Sunday deadline - it's not pleasant).
Still, things are settling down....Mom's getting better, and we're hoping that she comes home in June. (We were thinking May 31st, but there are some other complications. Nothing major, just another delay).
In that spirit, I'm heading back into writing and blogging for the time being. Taking it one step at a time....but also following a friend's advice.
I may start doing videos - after all, I need to use my smartphone for more than just phone calls and playing Doctor Who: Legacy.
So don't be surprised if you see more videos of me - or Pascha, Mom's cat - in the near future. Above is a brief sample. Enjoy!

Farewell to My Feline Brother Chucky

Kind of like me as a person.
When Mom was in and out of the hospital pre-transplant, he would poke his head out when I would visit, see that I was there, and then head off, leaving me to annoy his brother Smokey.
But today, I took the time to take Mom and Chucky to the vet. Long story short....chances weren't good.
And Mom and I both had to let go of Chucky.
Losing pets is relatively new for me - my original high school-era cats had passed while I lived in St. Louis. Smokey got a pre-ending visit, and I was able to be there for Dax.
And thankfully, I was able to be there for Mom.
It's rather ironic - a few days ago, I was accused of being "arrogant" because I suggested that some things weren't worth drama. I'm proud of the fact that I was able to be there for my mom....and my feline brother.
And if that makes me arrogant, so be it.
RIP, Chucky. You'll be missed.

Obligatory Cat Video - Now with Extra Hartnell
Hard to believe it's been seven months.....
I miss you, Dax. (And yes, I did post a YouTube of my cat. Because she deserves it...but for those of you interested, here's an unused classic Doctor Who DVD trailer).

My Video Tribute to Dax
Yes, another obligatory cat posting on the Internet - but in an effort to teach myself video editing skills, I took two videos of my cat (one taken in 2006; another in 2008 - both of differing quality), added a filter and some public domain music, and am now providing 30 seconds of pleasure.
All this in an effort to drive traffic, and to maintain my presence in the blogosphere. Enjoy!

Saying Goodbye to A Feline Friend
I should have known something was wrong by the tone of Mom's text, encouraging me to come over early.
News is bad about her oldest cat, Smokey - he's in bad shape, with dehydration, anemia, kidney failure, and other maladies, rendering him a shadow of his formerly feisty self....and leading to a rough decision on her part.
My current mood, admittedly, has been dark but optimistic - trudging through the tough times (and having some periods where I have given full bloom to my emotions), but otherwise feeling as if my current state will slowly - but surely - blossom into a period of positivity.
But thankfully, I've been spending most of my time with Mom and Smokey (Chucky, her other cat, hides snuggled up on her bed), raging at the unfairness of it all - after all, Smokey's only 14: a long life, but my Dax has outlived him by five years.
(Her health isn't too great, either, but she's....not in the obvious pain that Smokey is).
Perhaps mourning and saying goodbye to a pet seems silly, but for many of us, our pets allow us to experience unconditional regard (with cats, "love" may be stretching it). Smokey's been a good cat, and I'm glad that I have the chance to say goodbye.
And apologize for all the times I threatened to shave him bald.

Happy Holidazed
Or, "Why Cats and Egg Nog Don't Mix"
(There's actually other reasons why cats and egg nog don't mix).
Anyway, I've got posts set up for tomorrow and Monday, but for right now....I'm enjoying the holiday.
Happy holidays, everyone!

Your Mandatory Laugh of the Day
This past weekend was very stressful for me - Mom was in the emergency room (she's fine now - just low potassium). So I needed some good laughs this week.
Thankfully, I was e-mailed some humorous comics for review (and blogging). But sometimes, you need a piece that's sheer poetry. So in the fine tradition of this blog, I present:
THE KITTEN/TOOTHBRUSH SMACKDOWN
EDIT: Embedded video didn't work, so I took it out. Follow the link. You'll thank me later.
