I didn't watch the finale, but from reading the NYT summary of it, it kinda sounded like the idea behind the movies The Sixth Sense and Jacob's Ladder. Thoughts?
MVS - Without spoiling, it is reminiscent both in that it played fair and didn't telegraph the "twist ending"
