Record You Should Own/Public Domain Drive In

This month, despite the delays, this is a record that is a dual podcast and Public Domain Drive-In entry, as we focus on an artist whose work has had an impact not only on popular music...but also is an important historical figure.

This month, it's Robert Johnson, King of the Delta blues men. Although there are plenty of compilations available, some of his work is available with nothing more than a Google search. However, we make a recommendation for perhaps the best compilation (available at the blog's bookstore).

So please, feel free to download straight from the web page, listen in the sidebar, or head to iTunes to grab a listen. You'll be glad you did.

I love this album. I remember buying it when it first came out. It's on my Ipod now.

Ah, yes, Robert Johnson -- the man who sold his soul to the devil to become a blues musician, or so the legend goes. GREAT stuff! You can't beat the originals! :-)

A truly righteous choice (or devilish, if you prefer).
